1994 Chupu Charters was founded and began taking vacationers and locals on deep sea fishing trips out of Haleiwa. The original boat “The Chupu” was a single engine 36′ Vega brought over from Dana Point California after her career as a Swordfish harpoon / gill netter ended. She wasn’t much to look at, in fact there were many times she was confused with the boat from the movie “Jaws”… But she got the job done. In 1999 as charter fishing grew in popularity, The Chupu got a new engine, new paint, through makeover and was ready to rock!

More and more people were visiting the North Shore of Oahu and wanted to fish. That was the year that chupu.com was launched as well. It was official, we were officially on the World Wide Web! People from all over started to take notice of the amazing amount of fish that could be caught off the coast of Oahu and were anxious to sign up for a day of fishing.

However, the ocean off the coast of Oahu for the most part is not calm and the old Chupu (even with her makeover) was not quite suited for comfort. She was a great fishing boat, but not the ideal charter boat.
In 2000 the Chupu left Haleiwa to continue her life as a commercial fishing boat on the island of Kauai and Chupu Charters purchased a beautiful 42′ Uniflite ~ “Foxy Lady”. This was the boat that really put sportfishing on Oahu, especially in Haleiwa on the map. It was GAME ON!
Now we could fish all day AND keep our guests comfortable. Things just kept getting better and better for Chupu Charters and the Foxy Lady. The fish were biting and the phone was ringing with folks ready to brave the wild Pacific Ocean and catch a boat load of fish.
For the next 11 years the captains and crews of the Foxy Lady did just that. But by 2011 the original Foxy Lady was getting a bit tired. After 10’s of thousands of hours her engines and crashing through literally millions of waves our old 42′ Uniflite’s hull needed a break. Our search for a new boat lead us to the Kona Coast of the Big Island where we found a beast of a sportfishing boat! A very well kept 53′ Hatteras would be the next Foxy Lady. Wow, what an amazing boat. And for the next year she proved to be just as good at raising fish as our last Foxy Lady.

Which brings us to 2013. After almost 20 years of working in the charter fishing industry, Captain Jesse is enjoying retirement, spending plenty of quality time with his son, Ian. The job of catching fish and showing people how great the fishing is in Haleiwa is now up to Captain Chris Parker and H2o Adventures Hawaii , which is now the parent company of Chupu North Shore Sportfishing Charters. Captain Chris got his start in Haleiwa fishing on the Foxy Lady and now owns and operates H2o Adventures Hawaii, offering all kinds of ocean adventures from light tackle, live-bait, bottom fishing and offshore fishing trips to Scuba, shallow water snorkeling and well as blue water diving, Captain Chris and his boat The Seeker can do it all.  Capt Chris has a vast network of select, top producing charter fishing boats on all islands across the state of Hawaii.

For more information on setting up your custom sport fishing charter trip on the North Shore of Oahu or on other islands in Hawaii,  please call Captain Chris Parker at (808) 637-3474  (the same number as always)!
